
In an effort to improve the quality of education and publication skills among educators and academics, the Central Executive Board (DPP) of the Indonesian Association for Public Administration (IAPA) held a Semester Learning Plan (RPS) Preparation Workshop and Publication Training. This activity was held for two days, on July 18-19, 2024, at the Hall of the Science and Technology Building, Hasanuddin University. The Department of Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Hasanuddin University was appointed as the organizer in organizing this activity in collaboration with the Regional Executive Board (DPD) of IAPA South and West Sulawesi (Sulselbar).
In the morning session, the activity focused on Scientific Publication Training. This training aims to improve writing skills and publish scientific papers among academics and researchers. The speakers in this training were Prof. Agus Pramusinto, M.Dev and Bevaola Kusumasari, PhD from Gajah Mada University. Prof. Agus explained the various important steps in the process of writing scientific articles, starting from selecting topics, writing abstracts, to strategies for penetrating reputable journals. “The key to successful scientific publications is clarity, originality, and patience in writing (as an addition). In addition, Bevaola, who is also the Secretary General of the DPP IAPA for the 2022-2025 period, added regarding the author’s understanding of the review process and publication ethics. Participants were also taught how to use writing aids, such as reference management software, journal publication platforms, and the use of Artificial Intelligence in responsible journal writing. In the afternoon session, the activity was filled with a Semester Learning Plan (RPS) Preparation Workshop. The workshop was opened by the Dean of FISIP UNHAS Prof. Dr. Phil Sukri, M.Si with remarks from the Chairman of DPP IAPA, Prof. Agus Pramusinto, PhD and Secretary of the Department Dr. Muhammad Tang Absullah, MAP. The workshop was attended by lecturers who are also managers of Departments/Departments or Public Administration Study Programs throughout Indonesia. Starting the workshop, Dr. M.R. Khairul Muluk, S.Sos, M.Si from Brawijaya University and Dr. Lina Miftahul Jannah, S.Sos., M.Si from the University of Indonesia gave a brief explanation regarding the methods and targets of this activity. The next activity was divided into 2 rooms with 2 different discussions, discussions related to the RPS for the Undergraduate Program and discussions related to the RPS for the Postgraduate Program (Masters and Doctoral). In his presentation, Dr. M.R. Khairul Muluk, S.Sos, M.Si emphasized the importance of the RPS as a guide for study programs to plan the learning process systematically and structured. “RPS is not only an administrative document, but also a tool to ensure that the teaching and learning process runs effectively and achieves the expected learning objectives,” said Dr. Muluk.
Prof. Agus Pramusinto, M.Dev, in his speech closed this activity with full hope and commitment to continue to support the improvement of teaching capacity and standards in every Public Administration Study Program throughout Indonesia. With the end of the RPS Workshop and Publication Training, it is hoped that participants will be able to apply the knowledge they have gained to improve the quality of education and research, and contribute more to the academic and scientific world.
This activity was attended by 100 participants who were representatives of Public/State Administration study programs throughout Indonesia and the IAPA DPD Management throughout Indonesia.
